A lot of event organizers have
opted to go green with their events for several reasons. It is actually the current way to go. As compared to the past several years, the
public has now become very aware of the consequences and impacts that our
actions and choices have on the planet and its capacity to sustain and support
life that depends on it. Events that are
environmentally abusive and irresponsible are frowned upon and solicit negative
publicity. This is the last thing you
would want for your event.
Organizing a good green event lies
on knowing and understanding the people who you are expecting to attend your
event. It is best to be able to align
your event with your attendees’ goals and objectives. What is key is to be able to hold an event
with as little impact to Mother Earth as possible. The reality is that there are some events
with an environmental theme but fail miserably in accounting for important
factors to ensure that the event is truly a green event. Imagine a tour that was aimed to raise
awareness for climate change and global warming but took a lot of beating in
publicity due to the enormous amounts of carbon footprint generated by the
transportation of people to and from the series of events. The event could have been better if it was
launched in a single event followed by an online campaign, which could have
delivered the same results but with definitely much less emissions.
What is important to note of are
the factors involved when holding a green event because an improper execution
of an environmentally themed event can cause a lot of additional damage to the
environment as well as your reputation as an organizer. So remember to keep the protection of the
environment as your mission to be able to guide you through a truly green
event.
