Sports World Fair and activities will be held on 13-16 May 2010 in Istanbul in Turkey with the cooperation of General Directorate of Youth and Sports, Youth and Sports Ministry of State and Forum Fairs and Promotions Co. Inc.
IMPORTANCE OF SPORT IN TURKEY
Industry of sport still has been developing very fast in Turkey. Proportion of young population is quite high such as age of 0-30 people’s proportion is more than 50%. Also more than 10,000 sport clubs are existed in Turkey and approximately 2,500,000 sportsmen and sportswomen are member of GDYS and federations. Thus these inputs create more demand for sport and its equipments.
The other reason for increasing demand of sports equipments is international olympics and univesiades, which will be held between 2010 and 2011 in Turkey. The main events are 2010 FIBA World Championship, Erzurum 2011 Winter Universiade, Trabzon 2011 European Youth Olympic Festival.
Because of these international sport festivals, the demand for sport devices, equipments, clothing, shoes and accessories starts to increase. In spite of this huge demand, the supply of sport equipments is not enough in Turkey. With these necessities, Turkey is going to import most of these needs from abroad. Our main aim is bringing together both suppliers and consumers with Sports World Fair and activities.
