On the First Sunday of Advent 2011, Catholics in the United States and other countries will begin to use a new translation of the Roman Missal. As preparation and catechesis continue,

we gather in Louisville to reflect on

    * the importance of the words we sing, speak, and pray;
    * the call to God’s people to sing the liturgy as an integral element of full, conscious, and active participation;
    * the role of musicians and other pastoral leaders in facilitating change that brings life.

Above all, we gather to celebrate the presence of Christ in our midst
and to open ourselves to the power of God’s Spirit to renew and transform.
