August 4 - 6, 2010    Sydney , Australia
The Eighth Annual Australian Energy & Utility Summit will be held at a critical time for the industry.

With the deferment – perhaps permanently – of the Emissions Trading Scheme, there is considerable uncertainty about the way forward. Attracting investment in the absence of policy certainty will be all the more difficult in spite of some short term relief. Efficiency in pricing and regulation (as cited in the recent OECD report) will be an on-going challenge – so too, the slow crawl towards privatisation in NSW.

At the same time, the network itself is evolving, as smart infrastructure and smart meters reconfigure fundamental elements of way electricity is provided and consumed. With the imminent announcement of the winner of our own domestic ‘Smart City’ pilot program -2010 will be a visionary year for the future of our networks.

At the same time we could see the further renewable energy incentives in addition to recent changes to the RET scheme currently before the senate. This would certainly galvanise a burgeoning industry still struggling with the setbacks of the past few months.

Now into its 8th successful year, the Australian Energy & Utility Summit 2010 will focus on the key topical issues facing the energy supply, transmission, distribution and retail sectors. Senior representatives from across the energy and utility industry have been invited to speak at this event, including federal and state governments, energy departments and agencies, industry regulators, generators, transmission and distribution companies, retailers, major energy users and leading industry suppliers.
