Process excellence for quality, productivity and increased revenue

The last decade has witnessed significant advancement in the quality and business process excellence efforts in Turkey.

-Arcelik, a white goods manufacturer, started its six sigma journey by only training senior managers working in production departments in 1998, but now has dedicated master black belts in almost all the departments including marketing, sales, finance

-In 2002, Kordsa saved $670K in only 5 projects

-In 2003, Eczacibasi, a pharmaceutical company generated $1.5million after the first wave of sig sigma projects

-Borusan Holding generated $11 million of bottom-line savings in the first 47 projects that applied six sigma and currently has a dedicated six sigma department.

-At the moment, a significant number of private companies are using sig sigma in various levels including, but not limited to, Çimtaş, TEBA, EGO, VİTRA,BSH- Profilo, KordSA, Vestel, Firat Plastik, Arçelik, TEI, SASA, Borusan Holding, Ford Otosan, TEI, Dow Chemical, Kalekim, Bosch

-Strengthening the Quality Infrastructure in Turkey Project (TKAG), funded by the European Commission has started in 2007 with the aim of contributing to the free movement of goods between Turkey and EU and to the elimination of technical obstacles in trade between two parties. This initiative encouraged the companies exporting products to invest in solutions to improve the quality of their products

-Turkish government provides total quality management training courses to SMEs for free through relevant governmental institutions/organizations

-Turkish government subsidises 70% of the private six sigma and BPE course fees for the employees of the production companies (manufacturing, automotive, pharma, etc.)
