We offer a number of flexible study routes that feature a blend of face-to-face and online learning (including pre and post-course exercises) tailored to your level of experience, career aspirations and learning style.

The IoD Certificate in Company Direction (Chartered Director Stage 1) encompasses the core knowledge and awareness that is necessary to function effectively as a director:

* An in-depth view of the role, responsibilities and legal duties of a director.
* An understanding of the characteristics of an effective board.
* Sound knowledge of financial terms and concepts.
* The issues and processes associated with formulating strategic business plans and achieving strategic leadership.

The Certificate in Company Direction features four core modules:

* Role of the Director and the Board - 1-2 June - Birmingham.
* Finance for Non-Financial Directors - 1-3 July - Birmingham.
* The Director's Role in Strategy and Marketing - 1-3 Sept - Birmingham.
* The Director's Role in Leading the Organisation - 14-15 Sept – Birmingham.

These may be taken as part of the qualification or independently as individual course units.
