Big and small businesses alike invest in attending conferences and tradeshows.  This is because such tradeshows are developed to give businesses, retailers, managers and buyers the opportunity to network and meet suppliers of the industry, re-connect with business partners, and to provide awareness for new products and technologies available today.  It is a good venue for potential profit and additional revenue streams.  Here are a few important tips on how to maximize on your next tradeshow visit.

It is important to do some pre-show planning.  Establish your goals prior to the event.  This way you know which booths to visit and what seminars to attend.  Usually purchases done at the event are given discounts so taking advantage of this by buying in volume is a plus and it keeps you within budget.  It is also advisable to pre- register for the event to avoid the hassle and confusion during the event itself.

Make reservations at a convention designated hotel.  Usually these hotels extend discounts to the exhibition attendees and are located near the venue.

Bring comfortable business casual clothing and some comfortable shoes to match.  Keep in mind that you are representing your business but you shall also be standing and walking for most part of the exhibit.  Keep some room in your suitcase for event literature, product samples and some freebies.  Though some exhibitors do provide bags, it would be most convenient to have one carry all bag.

During the tradeshow, do request for literature and if possible samples to be mailed to you.  Have a pen and notebook handy incase you need to jot down useful information during your rounds.  You wouldn’t want to miss out on valuable data that you could take back home with you.  Do remember to bring more than enough business cards with you as well.  Do not be shy to introduce yourself to the other attendees.  Keep in mind that networking during the event is a must to establish potential partners.

After the event, revisit your goals and budget to make sure that these are achieved and met.  Then do some post event analysis.  This way you have a better perspective of the long term effects that the event has provided for your business.
