“Smart and intelligent” are becoming buzzwords for the India power sector because of the deployment and adoption of latest technologies. Due to the soaring electricity consumption and economic activities, India central government involvement in the smart grid has expanded beyond the confines of Ministry of Power into an inter-department task force known as India Smart Grid Task Force which is to evolve a road map for smart grid development.



Mr. Sam Potroda, the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovation has been elected the Chairman of “India Smart Grid Task Force”. He said, “India has been considered to rank third among the top 10 Smart Grid Investments countries. Therefore, under my stewardship, we wish to evolve a future roadmap for development of Smart Grid in India aided by the most modern and latest technologies in the field.”
