International Conference on Fixed Combination 2009

The high attendance and positive feedback from the participants to our first Conference in Budapest, as well as the enthusiastic comments by all attendees, encouraged us to start organizing the next meeting.

The incidence of hypertension associated with various components of the cardiometabolic syndrome is increasing worldwide. And so is the realization that concurrent treatments to effectively control all these components are underutilized, despite their proven value in preventing cardiovascular complications. One way to improve utilization of available pharmacologic agents is to use fixed combinations of drugs with synergistic or additive properties.

More and more combinations are coming out on the market proving their effectiveness in randomized controlled trials and in large multicenter studies. Compliance of patients is of utmost importance in the control of any chronic disease and multiple coexisting disorders. Fixed combinations can facilitate treatment and improve this issue enormously. The advantages of a fixed combination include use of fewer pills with low individual drug doses that will foster better tolerability, convenience, lower cost and thus ensure better compliance.

We invite experts in the fields of internal medicine, cardiology, nephrology, family medicine and primary care physicians, as well as nurse practitioners and physicians’ assistants, to meet and discuss the role of fixed combinations in the treatment of hypertension and dyslipidemia in today's medicinal world. The Conference Venue, The Valencia Conference Center, is is set on The Cortes Valencianas Avenue, one of the main avenues leading into the modern metropolis of Valencia. It is close to the international airport at Manises and has excellent links into the city center by metro, bus and tram.
