ICISTS-KAIST Conference 2011

ICISTS-KAIST, the International Conference for the Integration of Science and Technology into Society, is an annual event organized and hosted by ICISTS, an undergraduate student-led organization at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.

Since 2005, ICISTS-KAIST conferences have brought together hundreds of students and professionals from around the world to examine socioeconomic issues related to rapid developments in science and technology, and to discuss how science is changing or has the potential to change human society. Gathering individuals from various academic disciplines each year, ICISTS-KAIST has developed into an international and interdisciplinary forum for exchange.

ICISTS-KAIST’s main audience is undergraduate students. Today’s youth face the immensely difficult task of making important decisions about their future within a constantly changing society. By investigating future trends and examining the relationship between science, technology and society, we hope to provide our delegates with an eye-opening experience that will spark self-discovery, inspire them to reevaluate how they perceive the world, and provide guidance in planning for the future at a critical stage in their lives.

This year the conference will be based on the theme, "Metamorphosis: The Future of Human Society in the Information Era." During the conference, delegates will listen to lectures and plenaries given by distinguished individuals who are experts on and/or leaders in the progression of the Information Age. They will also have the chance to take part in many thought-provoking discussions and participate in interactive sessions such as field trips, simulations, and hands-on technology workshops. Finally, by completing the ICISTS-KAIST team project, delegates will be challenged to address several critical issues that have emerged or will emerge in the Information Age, and develop creative solutions with
