In its latest update on East Asia and Pacific countries (April 2009), the World Bank noted that China, currently the strongest economy in the region has begun to turn the corner while recovery among developed economies will likely be delayed until 2010. According to the World Bank, China's Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) has risen for four consecutive months, with the latest increase in March exceeding 50, a threshold that signals an expansion.
