Diabetes and the Heart 2010 is the second annual summit of the Joslin Diabetes Center and Cleveland Clinic partnership. It is well known that patients with diabetes and the cardiometabolic syndrome are at increased risk for developing cardiovascular disease. With the increase in prevalence of the cardiometabolic syndrome and its comorbidities, the need to optimize preventive and therapeutic interventions is a major focus of most clinicians in primary care. Clinicians must recognize the signs of the cardiometabolic syndrome in order to initiate early and effective preventive interventions to reduce eventual morbidity and mortality.

This summit is for anyone in clinical practice who is providing care for patients with diabetes who are at-risk or have already developed the components of the cardiometabolic syndrome or cardiovascular disease.
