Climate change has been in the global agenda since the “Earth Summit” in 1992. As population level is projected to increase from 6.5 billion to 8.3 billion by 2030, the world’s demand for energy will also increase by 53 percent (%) and thereby elevating global carbon emissions by 55% (Energy Saving Association). For this very reason, energy efficiency is today’s prime objective for energy policy at regional, national and international levels.

According to the International Energy Agency, improved energy efficiency in buildings, industrial processes and transportation could reduce the world's energy needs in 2050 by one third and help control global emissions of greenhouse gases.

Lovins' Rocky Mountain Institute points out that in industrial settings, "there are abundant opportunities to save 70% to 90% of the energy and cost for lighting, fan, and pump systems; 50% for electric motors; and 60% in areas such as heating, cooling, office equipment, and appliances." These savings can translate into millions in dollar sense for companies.

Energy Efficiency Summit aims to address the best practices in achieving energy savings and reducing operating costs while contributing to the environment.
