Emergency physicians, intensivists, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, pediatric surgeons,general surgeons, perfusionists, respiratory therapists, intensive care nurses and all other professionals interested in the care of patients with both cardiac and respiratory failure are welcome to Paris to the 4th International Course on ECMO and short-term circulatory/respiratory support Thursday June 27th and Friday June 28th 2013.
This year meeting will focus on the latest results of ECMO for both cardiac and respiratory failure. Practical aspects of managing ECMO including vessel cannulation, transport under ECMO, anticoagulation and specific ECMO indications (septic shock, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, lung transplantation) will be discussed by international opinion leaders. A complete update on other short-term circulatory/respiratory support devices will also be provided.
Practical workshops for the management of the ECMO system will be organized for smaller groups of delegates.
This year’s meeting will also include a specific program course for nurses, perfusionists and respiratory therapists.
The official language is English. Main sessions will have simultaneous interpretation (English/French and
French/English). Register for the pre-course Hands-on ECMO cannulation one-day training: This cannulation training course will be held Wednesday, June 26th to develop practioners’ competency in ECMO cannulation. Structured teaching in groups of 4 will be provided with a live animal model at the Fer à Moulin
surgical school in Paris. Participants will be instructed on all stages of venous and arterial cannulation use (from
set-up and staffing to securing lines).
