2011 is now shaping up to be a dynamic time for business in Thailand.
The Thai Board of Investment (BOI) has just reported that project
applications for the first 4 months of the year increased by 53% to 413
projects valued at 135.8 billion Baht. For the first quarter, total
investment in automotive, machinery, sheet metal, electronic and
electric industry was worth over 106 billion baht.
The international auto industry alone is investing hundreds of millions of dollars in major new assembly plants and eco-car facilities are being built here for companies like Ford, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Honda, Suzuki and Nissan. For 2010 –auto manufacturers in Thailand expect to manufacture about 1.6 million vehicles, with 1.8 million in 2011, 2 million in 2012, 2.2 million in 2013 and 2.5 million by 2015. The most popular vehicles will be pick-up trucks and eco-cars.
