The purpose of the Congress and Academy, initiatives of the International Psycho-Oncology Society, is to engage psycho-oncology professionals and researchers around the world in coordinated efforts to improve international and national standards to meet the psycho-social care needs of cancer patients on a global scale.

The 2012 IPOS 14th World Congress of Psycho-Oncology and Psychosocial Academy will be held in Brisbane, Australia’s new world city, in conjunction with the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA) 39th Annual Scientific Meeting. The Congress and Academy are initiatives of the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS), and will be hosted by Cancer Council Queensland, in partnership with the Psycho-Oncology Cooperative Research Group and Australian Psychosocial Oncology Society.

The theme of the Congress is Impact through Translation: Cancer Research Informing Practice. The Congress will bring together the world’s leading psycho-oncologists, clinicians, researchers and other health professionals to promote psycho-oncology research and practice. A dynamic program will ensure all delegates gain new understandings of the future opportunities for psycho-oncology on the international stage, to improve cancer care globally.
