This symposium is a review of primary care medicine that is intended for family practitioners, internists and general practitioners.It also may be of value to physicians preparing for family medicine or internal medicine recertification examinations. Presentations this year center around common patient management problems in the following clinical areas:cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, geriatrics, infectious diseases, neurology, pharmacology, plastic surgery, psychiatry, pulmonary and women’s health. The lectures will be casebased,and participants will have the opportunity to actively participate using an audience response system. The atmosphere is informal, and registrants are encouraged to participate in question-and-answer sessions.

Objectives:

-Recognize appropriate practice performance and best practices for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management in a primary care setting of the clinical areas presented in this activity.
-Determine quality and cost effective care standards for the clinical areas in this activity.
-Review new medical information relevant to the clinical topics.
