This course is designed for orthopaedic surgeons who are orthopaedic educators, residency program directors, instructional course chairs, or otherwise responsible for orthopaedic education. The accelerated 4.5 day program will keep you on the cutting edge of today’s most important educational developments. Small group discussions, lectures and problem-solving exercises give you the tools to facilitate resident learning, evaluate resident and program goals and problems, and address important considerations in academic faculty career development. You’ll learn a variety of approaches to teach orthopaedic residents and communicate educational concepts and proposals to students, peers, and leaders.

This course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to:

Understand a variety of approaches to teaching orthopaedic residents.
Develop appropriate curricula to facilitate resident learning.
Formulate specific resident learning goals and develop educational experiences to allow residents to achieve these goals.
Develop strategies to assess resident learning.
Evaluate the current effectiveness of your own teaching practices.
Clearly communicate educational concepts and proposals to learners, peers, and leaders.
Help you analyze and develop your own career as an orthopaedic educator.
Contribute to the ability of your residency program to comply with ACGME guidelines.
