This course is designed to address timely clinical issues encountered in the arena of critical care. All ICU caregivers (physicians, pharmacists, nurses, respiratory therapists, advanced practice nurses and physicians’ assistants) will obtain up-to-date and practical information relative to daily management of the critically ill patient. Participants will be able to identify and discuss recent developments and trends through comprehensive didactic sessions.

Conference Objectives
Comprehensively review EKG in theory and in the context of actual cases. Identify which home medications need to be continued through surgery. Consider the impact of home anticoagulation related to trauma, surgery and critical care. Critique acute and chronic pain management methods in the MICU, SICU, and PICU. Analyze radiographs commonly obtained in the ICU. Review new treatment options in wound care. Address the ethical dilemmas presented in critical care.

Critical Care Ultrasound Workshop
An optional ultrasound workshop will be offered prior to the start of the Critical Care Conference. The workshop will include didactic sessions on Wednesday afternoon and rotation through ultrasound practical stations, offering hands-on instruction and experience on Thursday morning. Enrollment in the Ultrasound Workshop is limited; enrollment in the full Critical Care Conference is a prerequisite.
