The City of Phnom Penh will host Cambodia's 1st International Hotel, Restaurant and Catering Industry Show - CamHotel 2010 at the new Diamond Island Convention & Exhibition Center. The tourism industry is experiencing strong growth with increasing international tourist arrivals as more airlines fly into the Kingdom.
In the first quarter of 2009, visitor arrivals to Cambodia were 800,243. Siem Reap Angkor arrivals has increased with 240,519 visitors, with share of 48.1% while Phnom Penh and other destinations had brought in a total of 415,614 visitors with 51.9% share. This sector generated US$1.049 billion in foreign tourism earnings or about 10 percent of the country's GDP, and is among the top six economic drivers. The thriving tourism industry has also attracted an increasing number of overseas investors. Between 1994 and 2006, there were 81 foreign-funded tourism projects totaling almost US$2.4 billion.
