The natural environment of the North East Asia region around China, Korea, and Japan is highly affected by human activities and has diverse natural phenomena such as Asian dust, harmful algal bloom, and turbid water.

SPIE Asia-Pacific Remote Sensing will examine the impact of human activities on coastal ecosystems and how long-term monitoring of the region with satellite remote sensing techniques, active and passive, is key to managing and conserving the ecosystems.
