June 21 - 22, 2011    Chicago IL , USA
Following successful editions in Austria, Belgium, the UK and the USA (San Francisco), Biogas EAST will take place in Chicago to leverage the huge potential of landfill gas in the East coast and growing farm/co-digestion AD projects in WI, NY, PA and neighboring states.

There are currently more than 150 on-farm anaerobic digesters in operation in the USA already generating more than 400,000 MWh electricity/heat and more than 100 new anaerobic digesters are in the planning stage. In addition, more than 540 operating landfill gas recovering plants (1,684MW) are running in 46 states and there is a potential of 510 landfills (1,160MW) with nearly 80 of those projects under construction.

With the success stories around the country, many new developers are keen to get their projects off the ground and existing projects are looking at expanding. However, there are also many challenges developers have overcome in order to minimize the risks of failure and maximize revenue. This key event will bring together leaders of the US biogas industry to examine how to develop commercially successful biogas projects and address the latest technological advances in production.

Delegates will learn from best practice case studies from biogas producers, utilities, biogas users and gain a clear understanding of the current federal policy framework from government representatives as well as investment criteria, project start up requirements, plant optimization and upgrading biogas for transport sector or injection into national gas grids.
