December 6 - 9, 2011
2nd World Clean Coal Series China Focus 2011
IEA predict that the amount of electricity generated from coal could increase by around 23% in the US, around 172% in China and around 258% in India between 2006 and 2030. At the same time, there is growing concern for the effects of combustion emissions on the environment and the global climate. In the 21st century, new coal technologies are needed to provide affordable and secure energy supplies while reducing our impact on the environment.

As a dominant energy source in China, coal makes up around 70% of the country’s energy consumption. It is projected that in 2020 coal will still account for half of China’s energy supply. Before 2009 Copenhagen Climate Conference, Chinese government had promised to cut the country’s carbon intensity by 40%~45% by 2020 compared to the 2005 level. If such an ambition is to be materialized, China need to not only develop alternative energy which will cost more, but also invest trillions in RMB in clean coal technology between 2011 and 2020 - the “Clean Coal” market will be vast.

2nd World Clean Coal Series China Focus 2011 featuring the top-level speaker panels and cutting-edge technology showcases is ideally timed to examine the vital questions that will shape global clean coal future.
