Multiple Sclerosis 2011, in association with British Journal of Hospital Medicine and British Journal of Neuroscience Nursing, has been carefully designed to provide participants with updates on the current issues and latest developments in the causes, diagnosis and treatment of MS.

It will provide an excellent opportunity for specialists and trainees in neurology, researchers, clinicians as well as GPs, specialist nurses and allied health professionals, to update and extend their knowledge.

The programme includes presentations from internationally renowned speakers focusing on hot topics in MS research.

Sessions include:
• A review of epidemiology and environmental factors in MS including new research linking vitamin D and Epstein-Barr virus to MS susceptibility
• Updates in neuroimmunology and brain imaging and its role in the diagnosis and management of MS
• Assessments of the latest disease-modifying therapies including a session on oral medication for MS and an update on clinical trials of promising treatments
• Guidance on the management of some of the complications of MS including bladder and bowel control, the use of new technologies for difficult to treat MS symptoms and MS and the relationship between MS and mental health
• Examinations of ways of managing and supporting patients with MS collaboratively, including dealing with relapses, palliative care needs for the advanced MS patient and updates on the End of Life Care Strategy
