December 6 - 9, 2011    Shanghai , China
We are very excited that the World Deepwater Summit & Expo China 2011 will be held in December 6-9th, Shanghai, China, reflecting the exciting growth that China is undergoing in the World Deepwater oil and gas industry.

China's first deepwater oil rig launched in Shanghai. The CNOOC981, which cost $6 billion to develop, can drill in depths up to 12,000 meters--potentially the deepest oil well in history. This is a huge increase for China, which was previously limited to 500-meter-deep seas. CNOOC and other companies operating offshore China or in other area rely on the latest technology and solutions to bring the greatest possible results from their exploration and production efforts.

Traditionally, IOCs were regarded as technology providers, project managers, money collectors and field developers. However, this situation has changed because of services companies' transformation and NOCs' development. The Oilfield services sector is facing unprecedented levels of business. To some extent, services companies partially supplant the big oil firms as technology providers and field operators. Also, NOCs have ready access to money from their government’s treasury, or global capital markets. Strengthening cooperation among these parties is a critical factor that will maximize output in this region.

In this new offshore oil and gas game, the need for effective partnerships between NOCs and IOCs, also strategic collaborations between oil companies and offshore services players, has never been more apparent. It is with this in mind that some of the world's most important and influential oil and gas leaders from regional NOCs, IOCs and junior oils will convene in Shanghai for World Deepwater Summit & Expo China 2011 on December 6-9, 2011.
