Volunteer Expo 2011

Volunteerism is one of the integral attributes of the Omani society, throughout the ages Omanis have set good examples of solidarity and unity. Volunteerism and Social development helps in the building of strong and cohesive communities. It fosters trust between citizens and helps develop norms of solidarity and reciprocity which are essential to stable communities. It plays an important role in economic regeneration and build society which live in harmony.

The proposed Volunteerism and Social Development Expo 2011 is an essential event for the Sultanate of Oman. The aim of the event is to recognise and promote volunteer contributions and actively encourage both individuals and corporates to volunteer within their communities, aiming to unite all sectors of society to work together to set up and run development projects. The expo will also highlight the social and cultural changes in the Omani society over the years and their effect on volunteerism and the volunteering culture and the role of the media in enriching this. It will also include the concept of social investment and its contribution in developing the society and elevating community life.
