This is an unclassified event. The modern IED has been referenced as the artillery of the 21st Century, for its inexpensive construction and ability to cause vast and costly destruction. The battle against IEDs itself is one that is proving to be grueling and punishing, to say the least. However, if the coalition forces striving to defeat this destructive force work together to develop a more unified and aggressive approach to counter this foe, both materially and conceptually, victory in the face of shifting terrain and unpredictable elements might be had with less detriment.
