Iraq, with an average annual population growth of 3% and over the next 10 years with an estimated population of 40 million, parallel to the population growth and the increasing amount of the consumption it is a very important market for food sector.
The country already imports %80 of it’s needs to meet the food requirement as it is not able to meet the needs of the existing population. Population growth, decreases in agricultural productions and the increase of the affordability helps the market to grow.
As 25 % average annual growth, with the increase of middle class new needs such as organic foods, diet products and new products has begun to enter the market. Especially under the age group of 14 which is equal to 40% of the population, makes the market more important in the terms of biscuit, candy, snack products. This consumption madness makes the the region a good target for food companies.
