Research in Forensic Mass Grave Victim Identification 2014

Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology (FAA) are very applied, hands-on disciplines, which is most attractive to many professionals. However, it poses a considerable challenge in research. The principle set up for research consists of three stages: a) the definition of a phenomenon, b) the theoretical investigation of each element of the phenomenon through basic research and c) the testing of the results of phase b through allied research in the 'real world'. Research in FAA usually skips the first two stages and concentrates purely on phase c. This has lead to very little progress in FAA research over the past 30 years, especially in the field of taphonomy.

This is the 2nd International Mass Grave Victim Identification Forum and will explore the principle direction FAA research has taken in the past, is taking curently and could or should be taking in the future.This second International Forum will comprise of expert talks and plenty of networking opportunities
