To help move towards this goal, leading E&Ps will be gathering again for the 3rd Annual In Situ Oil Sands: SOR Reduction & Production Optimization Initiative 2014 will be to examine the latest technologies and operating strategies for reducing SOR & optimizing productivity in SAGD wells.

Speakers at the event will be providing real life operator experiences of harnessing advances in inflow control, thief zone management, co-injection, instrumentation, artificial lift and smart completions to maximize their production rates and minimize their SOR.
Day 1 will start with practical case studies on how operators have reduced SOR in their operations, followed by focus sessions on applying ICDs and OCDs in the field and a detailed look at operating strategies for dealing with top gas and bottom water. They will then examine the latest data from pilot studies in solvent and non-condensable gas co-injection, before explaining which artificial lift techniques have practically impacted SOR and productivity in their operations. Finally they will bring these insights together by explaining overall completions strategies that can incorporate all these advances and provide a look to the future by detailing the latest data coming out of field studies on carbonate production.
Day 2 will start by examining best practice usage of instrumentation to measure downhole pressure & temperature in SAGD reservoirs to optimize productivity before providing case studies on managing subcool, speeding up start up times & optimizing well placement. The focus will then move onto strategies for ensuring well integrity to avoid costly casing failures & monitoring & mitigating caprock integrity to ensure regulatory compliance. The c
