Description: Contemporary Acadian traditional group Vishtèn embodies the spirit and the sound of the musical and historical connection between Prince Edward Island and the Magdalen islands. They have become one of the most exciting folk bands on the international music scene and a distinctive and powerful voice for new French-Arcadian music, with all three members direct descendants of the first colonial families. Vishtèn’s trademark sound combines original compositions and traditional songs with driving rhythms. Their unique blend of fiddle, guitar, accordion, harmonium, whistles, piano, bodhrán, jaw harp, Moog, electric guitar and percussive dance make for a unique tour de force, weaving together traditional and contemporary sounds.
