International Universal Communication Symposium (IUCS) 2011

The 5th International Universal Communication Symposium at GUMICO in Gumi, Korea on 12 - 14 October 2011 under the auspices of Gumi City Municipal Government. The ultimate goal of communication is to provide communicators with actual feeling as if they were at present in face to face. In order to carry out the goal, communication technologies are required to communicate with each other at any place, in any time, with any language, without any barrier or any failure. Also, the communication technologies shall work out lots of barriers causing different languages, information quality, individual ability, and some other problems. The communication technologies shall make an integrated cyberspace connected to real world and physical distance. This symposium will draw attentions of professionals and expert who are working for and interested in the communication technologies for achieving the ultimate goal of communication. This symposium will provide them a good chance to discuss research results together, to share their ideas, works and opinions.

On the purpose of creating more human-centered communication environments and promoting productive discussion and research exchange, we have initiated annually this symposium since 2007. The IUCS is the 5th in a series of the symposium that began in Kyoto in 2007 first, continuing to Osaka, Tokyo, Beijing, and now Gumi.

The symposium will begin with the opening ceremony and the technical program that will consist of formal presentation including keynote speakers’ talks, invited sessions, oral and poster sessions. In addition to the technical program, social events include welcome reception, banquet and industrial tours. They will offer the symposium participants the opportunities of strengthening the interactions and experiencing Gumi city, one of the biggest industrial cities in Korea.
