A biomechanical approach which takes into account the rheology of coronary arteries, the mechanical properties of coronary endoprostheses as well as the physicochemical
aspects of biomaterials within an arterial context, was a major step towards minimizing restenosis.

In order to explore new applications of this approach, we are organizing the 10th symposium on « Endocardiovascular Biomechanics Research » which will take place in
Marseille on May 3-4, 2012. The aims of this symposium, are to explore these applications from the viewpoints of engineers, biologists and physicians and to discuss emerging technologies in the
cardiovascular field.

This year, we will focus on recent developments in bioresorbable stents, bifurcated stents, cardiac assist devices, percutaneous valves and a special focus on cardiac cell
therapy and new perspectives from industry. Special sessions will address new practical questions concerning recent technologies and their potential for adverse events.

We hope you will join us in Marseille in the spirit of multi-disciplinary collaboration to push this exciting field forward.
