Totally, all facilities to be launched will annually produce 91 mln sq.m complete fabric, 5.2 mln pieces of garments, 7.3 mln pairs of hosiery knitwear, as well as 32,000 tons of high-grade yarn.
By 2012, in comparison with the expected outcomes in 2009, the projects will ensure a 2.9-fold increase in production of finished fabrics to 182.6 mln sq.m, including 2.5-fold increase in cotton fabrics to 138.7 mln sq.m, finished garments – 2.5 times up to 32.3 mln pieces, knitwear – 20% to 40.4 mln pieces, hosiery – 1.9 times to 40.4 mln pairs.
As reported earlier, the industry developed a program of modernization and technical reequipping of textile industry for 2007-2012 at a total cost of $615 mln.
During the implementation of 79 projects, it is planned to increase processing of cotton fiber to 510,000 tons, as well as to raise production of cotton yarn to 407,000 tons, and cotton textiles to 320 mln sq.m.
According to the State Joint-Stock Company Uzbekyengilsanoat (Uzbek light industry), since the early 1990s, the industry has attracted more than $1 bln of foreign investment; implemented over 50 projects, including 45 joint ventures, whose share in total exports of the textile industry makes 88%.
At present, capacities of textile industry of the country afford it to process over 300,000 tons of cotton fiber, produce 250,000 tons of yarn and 480 mln meters of cotton fabrics.
