span style="font-weight: bold;">The Japanese government last year announced the nation's target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent from the 1990 level by 2020. It is the responsibility of the world's industrial nations to show leadership in reducing emissions, and we believe that Japan—with some of the world's most advanced environmental technologies—will be able to achieve its target. Japan's efforts alone, however, are not enough to prevent global warming. Every nation needs to accelerate its efforts.

This year's Eco-Products 2010 exhibition, the twelfth and one of the largest environmental exhibitions in Japan, will showcase the latest environmental technologies and solutions. The theme this year is "Green x Clean Revolution! Expand the power to connect lives to the world." Major businesses and organizations in Japan will gather here and feature important themes for sustainable society, including not only global warming prevention but also the issues of resource depletion and biodiversity conservation, the latter being a major topic of the COP 10 meeting of the Convention on Biodiversity to be held this year in Japan.

We hope that the Eco-Products 2010 exhibition's presentation of the latest environmental trends to visitors from Japan and overseas will further raise awareness of the environment, encourage environmental efforts around the world, and help create a sustainable society.

We are sure Eco-Products 2010 will present worthwhile opportunities to participants, and we look forward to welcoming you to the event.
