High-speed Internet, is driven by global optical networks utilizing various photonic- and network- technologies, Lambda Grid, fiber-optic, wireless/optical-wireless as enabling technologies for IT and Telecom from the architectural, security, signal transport and application perspectives. The annual conference, preceded by a focused workshops and short courses will span over three days of technical and visionary presentations as well as testbed experiences; and will include keynote addresses and various plenary sessions on various focus areas consistent with the theme and objectives. As a part of its legacy, the major objective of this 8th International Conference is to bring together participating US, Saudi Arabia, SAMENA region, and the world-wide researchers, educators, students, and industry professionals for collaborations. HONET 2011 thematic areas include 'Global Networking Technologies' and 'Nanotechnologies enabling ICT and e-Applications'
