The neuropeptide Y (NPY) family of biologically active peptides NPY, peptide YY (PYY) and pancreatic polypeptide (PP) comprise a multi-ligand / multi-receptor system together with a set of different GPCR types known as Y1, Y2, Y4, Y5 and Y6 in mammals. This system influences a wide range of essential physiological key functions, e.g. food intake, memory retention, gastrointestinal transit, regulation of blood pressure, and is known to be associated with a variety of major human diseases such as obesity, epilepsy, mood disorders, gastrointestinal and cardiovascular complications, and cancer. Combining basic knowledge from a multidisciplinary perspective including biochemical, cellular biology, genetic, and medical aspects is a prerequisite for an improved understanding of the NPY system and exploiting its significant potential as a therapeutic target for the treatment of disorders.

The 11th NPY-PYY-PP Meeting in Leipzig, Germany, August 22 to 26, 2015 will bring together speakers representing world leading academic and industrial experts working in all areas of research affected by NPY and its related peptides.
