All decisions taken in business in technical, financial, accounting or human matters are based on some kind of measurement. 

And the role of metrology is to:

analyse the measurement process and be able to quantify the doubt about its outcome, the uncertainty,
ask the right questions and identify the real needs during the production process.
Metrology is a strategic asset in the management of a company, regardless of its field, in mechanics, electronics, the food industry, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medical, environment, biology, aeronautics, space, nuclear, agriculture, etc.

However, metrology has to be reconsidered in most companies to provide its full added value. People have to learn how to use measurement as a global production management tool, and not only limited to product quality control.

The Collège Français de Métrologie wants to bring forward that analysis through all its actions.
