Agriculture plays a very important role boosting the national economy of the Sultanate of Oman. The government’s economic development policy underlines the importance of expanding non-oil activities which includes agriculture and fishing sector. The agricultural sector alone represents for 70 per cent of the country's non-oil/gas exports. It also provides livelihoods for tens of thousands of the country’s citizens engaged in crop cultivation.

In support to the country's agricultural sector, OITE Conferences is pleased to present the Oman Agriculture and Food Security Conference, which will take place on 19th - 20th March 2012. The forum aims to gather local and international agricultural industry leaders, stakeholders, the concerned public sector organizations, and research communities under one roof to discuss vital issues and opportunities in the agricultural sector. The forum will also cover wide-range of topics, including food security, trends in agriculture both in terms of practice and technology, agricultural programmes that benefits small to medium farmers, farming techniques, sustainable agriculture, food security, and more. It will also serve as a perfect platform for farmers, researchers, and technical experts, policy-makers to interact, share information and forge collaboration for the growth of the agricultural sector.
