The 57th Annual Conference of the International Linguistic Association will be held at Borough of Manhattan Community College, City University of New York located at 199 Chambers St. in the Tribeca neighborhood in New York City.
The theme of this year’s conference is Language and Institutions. See the Call for Papers below for details.
The International Linguistic Association (ILA) invites submissions for its 57th annual conference to be held at Borough of Manhattan Community College, City University of New York, April 13-15, 2012. Papers in any area of linguistics are appropriate; however, the theme of this year’s conference is LANGUAGE AND INSTITUTIONS. For this conference, participants are invited to examine how language functions within institutions and/or how institutional contexts shape language. These studies may focus on a wide variety of institutions including, but not limited to, education, medicine, social work, law enforcement, urban planning, religion, government, and family. Papers addressing the theme may report qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method research studies. While we encourage submissions relevant to the theme, we welcome proposals in all areas of linguistic
