China is to make a huge investment of RMB 5 trillion according to the country’s Emerging Energy Industry Program for the 12th Five-Year Plan Period.
The Program spans from 2011 to 2020. During the period, China is expected to welcome an average increased output value of RMB 1.5 trillion annually. According to detailed development goals set by the Program, China will have an installed solar power capacity of about 20 million KW by year 2020.
The RMB 5 trillion investments will include state investments as well as investments made by businesses and other social organizations. Apart from nuclear energy and hydropower, other renewable energies will attract RMB 2 trillion to 3 trillion, and solar energy is expected to attract RMB 200 billion to RMB 300 billion.
