Mail and express operators would all agree that their core business is the delivery of physical items to homes and businesses. For posts, physical letters, albeit in decline, represent a massive share of the overall revenue stream, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. For posts and parcels companies alike, there has been a huge increase in parcel volumes driven by the growth in e-commerce. There may be challenges around the speed of delivery, and the way in which the delivery to the private customer in particular is managed, but every operator sees e-commerce as a growth opportunity.
